HOW YOU CAN HELP

Mentor Program:  Please consider being a mentor for a single person  (male or female) that needs a step up from the “emergency “ shelter program.

Many of the clients at the shelter are stuck in a system that is not able to lift them up.

There is no affordable housing for someone who is not able to pay large amounts every month. If you have a spare room that is not being used, please consider giving an individual a chance to move on with their lives.  It could be a real blessing for someone.

Transitional Food and Shelter will carefully screen a possible client for the best connection for both parties and continue to mentor the client as well. Developing a team approach will help solve a critical need in our community.

Supper: Our “People’s Kitchen” started on February 2, 2004. Now in its 6th year, the evening meal program continues to feed thousands every year.

The kitchen has been a wonderful example in showing what a concerned community can provide from their hearts to help their brothers and their sisters with the most basic need.

Families Helping Families:    At Christmas time we match donor families to needy families.   The donors provide toys for children and food for Christmas dinner.

Screening of clients:  All of our housing clients are screened and referred by other agencies who continue to work with them to get them into a better situation.   For the Christmas program clients are also screened and referred by other agencies.   Meal participants are self screened.
